Job Description:

The University of South Wales is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a full-time position in the field of Civil Engineering. The Research Fellow will be focusing on the project awarded by Switch to Net Zero Buildings PBIAA grant funded by the UKRI EPSRC, on the development of sustainable building mortar, brick, block and concrete using materials recovered from post-consumer disposable nappy waste. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with our industrial partner (NappiCycle Ltd) to ensure that research outcomes influence future developments and widespread use. The successful candidate will have the chance to engage in the development of novel research methods, extend their research portfolio and contribute to the evolution of technologies associated with cement and concrete.

In this capacity, the Research Fellow will be expected to prepare high-quality research outputs and grant proposals, including publications in leading journals and other relevant platforms. The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or cognate discipline. Advanced knowledge in cement and concrete is highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build networks nationally and internationally.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position initially for one year, and is based at Pontypridd Campus of the University of South Wales.

We welcome applications from UK, Europe and worldwide and aim to make your move to the UK as smoothly as possible. Your application will be considered on an equal basis, subject to the relevant permission to work in the UK as set out by UK Visas & Immigration.
