About This Opportunity

By 2050, solar, wind, and energy storage will dominate our electricity grid—but ensuring stability is critical. This ARC Discovery Project is developing advanced, data-driven models and tools to integrate renewable generators securely into Renewable Energy Zones (REZs). Our goal: a reliable, affordable, and resilient decarbonised power system for Australia.

Key responsibilities will include:

Research:

  • Extensive experience in power systems stability assessment when only black box models are available.
  • Develop new data-driven impedance modelling method for small-signal stability assessment.
  • Develop novel data-driven transient stability evaluation method.
  • Assist validation of developed tools through real-time simulation work.
  • Produce quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high-quality outlets.
  • During the Fellow’s three-year contract at UQ, submit at least one fellowship/project application for competitive research funding.
  • Work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
  • Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile.
  • Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.

Supervision, Training and Researcher Development:

Supervise Honours and Higher Degree Research students, supervise and manage researcher development, develop Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for outside professionals, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
