The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research associate to work with Dr. Joe Sagues in the area of biocarbon energy storage. The position is expected to begin on October 20, 2025, with an initial one-year appointment and the potential for extension based on performance and funding availability.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct and publish peer-reviewed research on sustainable energy storage materials, with a particular emphasis on the synthesis and application of biomass-derived systems. In addition to generating high-quality publications, the candidate will contribute to leading research initiatives aimed at developing next-generation energy storage technologies. A central focus of this work will be the design and implementation of biocarbon electrodes, advancing the use of renewable resources in scalable and effective energy storage solutions while collaborating with faculty, research staff, and students to drive innovation in this emerging field.

• PhD in chemical engineering, biological engineering, agricultural engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
