The Department of Stem Cell Biology at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a newly established research group in Bioinformatics for Multi-Omics. The position is embedded in a BMFTR-funded project focused on AI-driven integration of multi-omics data to study complex comorbidities, with a particular focus on Parkinson’s disease (PD) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Your tasks:

• Develop and apply AI models (e.g., graph neural networks, variational autoencoders) for integrative multi-omics analysis
• Construct and analyze molecular interaction networks across e.g. transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic data
• Perform biomarker discovery and simulation-based perturbation analyses
• Collaborate with clinicians and experimental scientists in a translational research environment
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and contribute to open-source software

Essential experience/qualifications:

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field
• Strong background in machine learning and statistical modeling
• At least 1–3 years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in computational life sciences
• Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Experience with multi-omics data integration
• Proficiency in Python/R and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Strong interest in translational biomedical research
