The Department of Stem Cell Biology at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a newly established research group in Bioinformatics for Multi-Omics. The position is embedded in a BMFTR-funded project focused on AI-driven integration of multi-omics data to study complex comorbidities, with a particular focus on Parkinson’s disease (PD) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Your tasks:
- Develop and apply AI models (e.g., graph neural networks, variational autoencoders) for integrative multi-omics analysis
- Construct and analyze molecular interaction networks across e.g. transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic data
- Perform biomarker discovery and simulation-based perturbation analyses
- Collaborate with clinicians and experimental scientists in a translational research environment
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and contribute to open-source software
Essential experience/qualifications:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field
- Strong background in machine learning and statistical modeling
- At least 1–3 years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in computational life sciences
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience with multi-omics data integration
- Proficiency in Python/R and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Strong interest in translational biomedical research
We offer a highly interdisciplinary research environment, access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure, and close collaboration with national and international partners.
