Postdoctoral Researcher
Position Summary
The Ye lab at the University of Georgia is a Human Genetics lab with a special interest in Human Nutrition. We strive to identify genetic variants that make each one of us unique in our nutritional requirements and risks of metabolic diseases. We aim for a future of Personalized Nutrition. Our research employs computational and experimental methodologies from Evolutionary and Quantitative Genomics, Molecular Genetics, and Nutritional Sciences. We are searching for a postdoc to work at the interface of Population Genetics and Quantitative Genetics, to study the role of Gene-Environment Interactions in human evolution and human complex traits. The postdoc will perform both empirical data analysis (ancient and modern DNA; large biobanks) and theoretical modeling.
Duties/Responsibilities
Research projects: 1) utilizing ancient and modern DNA to study the evolution of metabolic genes and traits; 2) developing population genetics models to characterize gene-environment interactions in the evolution of human complex traits; 3) analyzing data from UK Biobank to empirically identify gene-environment interactions for human complex traits, especially the circulating levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The postdoc will perform literature reviews, project management, data analysis, manuscript writing, and presentations. (80%)
Administrative responsibilities: 1) supervision and training of graduate and undergraduate students; 2) assisting with the daily operations of the laboratory (20%)
