Job Position

Ghent University Global Campus, South Korea, has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Researcher in biotech data science, starting from 1 October 2025 (negotiable). This is a 1-year full-time position renewable for a further 1-year term, subject to positive evaluation. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Joris Vankerschaver at the Center for Biosystems and Biotech Data Science. Job Description

• You hold, or are expected to hold by August 2025, a PhD in computer science/engineering, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, or electrical engineering.
• You are an established researcher in machine learning and biotechnology, with a strong publication record and awareness of recent developments.
• You have an enquiring attitude, can develop research lines, and contribute to projects.
• You have deep familiarity with a scientific computing language (preferably Python) and experience with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or scikit-learn.
• You are a team player and leader, able to mentor students and share knowledge.

You assist the supervisor to conduct research at the intersection of machine learning and biotechnology, develop new research lines, and contribute to research-related activities. Research workload: around 70% of time. You assist in mentoring students and teaching occasional courses, with teaching workload not exceeding 30%.

Compensation & Benefits

One-year contract (renewable once for a total of 2 years). Annual base salary: 46,624,160 KRW. Bonuses: Two additional bonuses. Housing: Dormitory for non-Koreans or housing allowance.
