Offer Description
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m, 1 position) for a term of 12 months, with possibility of extension up to 4 years, with the topic “Enhancement of Electronic Correlations in Topological, Magnetic and Superconducting Moirés”.
The position will be supervised by Tonica Valla, PhD (tvalla@ifs.hr).
The position will be within the group for ultrafast spectroscopy at the Center for Advanced Laser Techniques (CALT). The work will be focused on the synthesis and characterization of the electronic properties of moiré superlattices at the interfaces of materials possessing topological characteristics, magnetic order, and superconductivity. The postdoctoral researcher will also be involved in the development of MBE system, as well as in the analysis, processing, and interpretation of experimental data, the preparation of scientific publications, and participation in the dissemination of results. The position will require frequent experiments and visits to synchrotron and collaborating institutions.
Mandatory requirement: Doctorate (PhD) in the field of natural sciences, condensed matter physics or related field.
Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in Croatian and/or English.
In addition to meeting the mandatory requirement, preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in their previous research work (awards, prizes, scholarships, published papers, conference presentations, etc.), as well as those with an excellent understanding of strongly correlated electronic systems, and prior experience in experimental techniques, programming, and experimental data analysis relevant to the research topic (ARPES, MBE synthesis, STM).
The application must include: proof of the required qualifications, a CV highlighting the candidate’s experience and strengths, contact information for at least one academic referee (mentor or senior scientist).
