About us

The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.
People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.

The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning and working within the Master in Architecture under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Florian Hertweck.

Your role

  • Collaborative and individual research on the socio-ecological transition in architecture and urbanism
  • Contribution to feasibility studies in architecture and urbanism in the context of Luxembourg
  • Teaching territorial design, urban design or architectural design as well as theory of urbanism and/or architecture
  • Realisation of collective and individual academic publications in connection with the research area
  • Assistance in the organisation of the master programme in architecture
  • Assistance in the representation of and the communication on the master programme in architecture
  • Tutoring and evaluating master and PHD students
  • Administrative tasks

Your profile

  • Master and Ph.D. degree in architecture or urbanism, or in history or theory of architecture or urbanism
  • Experience in teaching architectural, urban, and territorial design and theory
  • Good team worker, great ability in tutoring students and in organising research and other academic events
  • An experience with international and interdisciplinary research projects as well as with research fundraising will be considered as an advantage.
  • A design experience in the field of architecture and urban design will be considered as an advantage
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in either German or French will be an asset
