Your role

The Department of Economics and Management of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to conduct research in development economics.

The postdoctoral researcher will be working under the supervision of Professors Luisito Bertinelli and Jean-François Maystadt (UCLouvain) on a joint project ROAD financed by the FNR and FNRS. In particular, the Postdoctoral Researcher will be in charge of :

  • Realizing empirical research in the general field of development economics, and in particular related to the ROAD project
  • Collaborating with the PhD candidate hired on the same project
  • Contributing to publications in scientific reviews and participating to conferences

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in economics, preferably with a specialization in applied microeconometrics. Please note: Applications from PhD candidates who will have started their final year of doctoral studies before that date may be considered.

In particular, the following requirements apply:

  • Strong interest in all areas of development economics
  • The candidate must have a deep interest in questions related to infrastructure and development, and a thorough knowledge of applied econometrics
  • The candidate should show some acquaintance in managing large datasets and non-traditional data, e.g. GIS, satellite-based, social media
  • Fluency in English; a good understanding of French will be considered as an advantage
