1 Position Overview
The research group “Phase Transition Lab” led by Associate Professor Y. Zhao at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT) is seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to join our interdisciplinary team working on the research topic of "Fundamental Physics of Phase Transition and Its Application in Cryobiology and Thermal Management". We welcome applicants with backgrounds in Thermodynamics, Numerical Heat Transfer, Computational Fluid Dynamics/Molecular Dynamics, Thermal Physics, Refrigeration and Cryogenics, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Food and Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
2 Research Areas
We are recruiting postdoctoral researchers to conduct any research direction in the following areas:
- (1) Phase Transition Physics (Phase transition mechanisms, Theory of continuous phase transitions, Multiphase heat/mass transfer in solidification, Hydrodynamics and water relaxation).
- (2) Cryobiology/Cryopreservation (Cryopreservation technologies, Freezing/supercooling, Heat and mass transfer in biological systems, Food freezing, Biopreservation of cells or organs).
- (3) Thermal Management (Hydrogen storage, Cold energy storage, Phase change materials (PCMs) energy storage, Battery heat protection, High-performance cooling technologies, Chip / Data center cooling, thermal management for electronic devices).
3 Salary and Benefits
Successful candidates will receive competitive compensation according to SCUT postdoctoral recruitment policies. Annual Comprehensive Salary for this position is about 300,000 RMB ~ 400,000 RMB (approximately 42,000 US Dollars ~ 55,000 US Dollars), depending on education and research experience. If interested, additional competitive fellowship opportunities are also available, including: Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program 550,000 RMB/year (76,000 USD), Postdoctoral Overseas Talent Program 570,000 RMB/year (79,000 USD), and Guangdong Provincial Overseas Postdoctoral Talent Program 470,000 RMB/year (65,000 USD).
