Your role
The Mobilab Transport Research group led by Ass. Prof. Francesco Viti at the University of Luxembourg has an opening for a 2-year postdoctoral researcher on Transport Modelling and Simulation, starting as soon as possible, to support different projects and the supervision of doctoral researchers in the team.
The Mobilab team is a dynamic group with broad research competences and interests, with expertise covering mathematics, engineering, computer science and social sciences. We offer excellent working conditions in an international and stimulating environment, along with frequent opportunities to engage in scientific activities both in Luxembourg and abroad, including seminars, summer schools, conferences, and more.
The postdoctoral fellow will be working on developing multi-scale and multi-modal models, contributing to bridge transport economics, network modelling and activity-based modelling, and leverage different types of (big) data. The applicant should be a creative and motivated researcher, with strong analytical and computational skills, with knowledge of one or all of the following:
- Dynamic Transport Modelling
- Demand Estimation and Forecasting
- Agent-based Modelling and Simulation
- Data-driven Modelling
- Transportation Planning and Network Design
Your profile
- Hold a PhD in applied mathematics or engineering
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Knowledge of programming, either Python or MATLAB is considered mandatory, knowledge of Java is considered an asset
- Solid knowledge of transportation modelling, proved with indexed publications
- Experience with research projects and expertise in supervision of PhD students
- Demonstration of writing (successful) proposals for grants is a strong asset
- Fluent written and oral skills in English is a must, French is considered an asset
