Your role

The Mobilab Transport Research group led by Ass. Prof. Francesco Viti at the University of Luxembourg has an opening for a 2-year postdoctoral researcher on Transport Modelling and Simulation, starting as soon as possible, to support different projects and the supervision of doctoral researchers in the team.

The Mobilab team is a dynamic group with broad research competences and interests, with expertise covering mathematics, engineering, computer science and social sciences. The postdoctoral fellow will be working on developing multi-scale and multi-modal models, contributing to bridge transport economics, network modelling and activity-based modelling, and leverage different types of (big) data. The applicant should be a creative and motivated researcher, with strong analytical and computational skills, with knowledge of one or all of the following:

• Dynamic Transport Modelling
• Demand Estimation and Forecasting
• Agent-based Modelling and Simulation
• Data-driven Modelling
• Transportation Planning and Network Design

Your profile

• Hold a PhD in applied mathematics or engineering
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Knowledge of programming, either Python or MATLAB is considered mandatory, knowledge of Java is considered an asset
• Solid knowledge of transportation modelling, proved with indexed publications
• Experience with research projects and expertise in supervision of PhD students
• Demonstration of writing (successful) proposals for grants is a strong asset
• Fluent written and oral skills in English is a must, French is considered an asset
