Dr. Meltem Elitaş Hartmann at Sabanci University is looking for outstanding post-doctoral researchers who are willing to apply for Marie Sklodowska – Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) 2026 call.
HOST INSTITUTION:
On a national level, SU has been one of the most successful universities in Turkiye in terms of the number of EU Framework Programmes funded projects per faculty member. The Sabancı University Research and Technology Transfer Office (SU ATT) is well-structured to manage the 300 active projects simultaneously, with approximately 57% of the total budget allocated to EU projects.
Research at SU is an interdisciplinary effort extending across all branches of science, technology, and arts. Academic activities are performed within the framework of three faculties composed of non-departmental and interdisciplinary programs: the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Management, which feature a total of 12 undergraduate, 52 graduate and 17 doctoral programs. SU has also several research centres, Data Analytics Research and Application Center (VERIM), Center of Excellence in Nano Diagnostics (EFSUN).
Mechatronics Engineering Program:
Mechatronics is the design methodology of systems based on multidisciplinary engineering approaches. Most modern systems such as consumer products, manufacturing machines, or even exotic measurement devices must be designed to comply with several constraints at the same time, including complex behavior, mechanical and electronic precision, low cost, low power consumption, environmental friendliness, networked operation, smart interaction with users and work in uncertain environments. Their design requires engineers who are fluent in such disciplines as electronics, mechanics, computers, control, and other areas like optics and material science.
Mechatronics program at Sabanci University aims to educate creative individuals who can apply ideas from all such disciplines to design today's complex systems. The approach is supported by a curriculum seamlessly integrating the diverse disciplines, while being hands-on and research oriented from the undergraduate education, utilizing our comprehensive research infrastruture used for the industrial projects and fundamental research conducted by the program members.
OFFER DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral candidates interested in developing innovative approaches to investigate cellular stress responses using microfluidics, advanced microscopy, quantitative image analysis, and deep learning.
The project combines experimental and computational methods to quantify cellular heterogeneity, stress adaptation, and phenotypic dynamics at the single-cell level. Researchers with backgrounds in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, microbiology, biotechnology, systems biology, microfluidics, microscopy, computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, image processing, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate should demonstrate scientific creativity, independence, strong analytical skills, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research. Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: microfluidic systems, live-cell imaging, quantitative microscopy, computer vision, deep learning, image analysis, bacterial physiology, or cellular stress biology.
Researchers of any nationality are eligible to apply. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the call deadline and comply with the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship mobility rule, i.e., they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Türkiye for more than 12 months during the 36 months immediately preceding the call deadline (9 September 2026).
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Meltem Elitas Hartmann (Sabancı University, Istanbul, Türkiye) with a CV and a brief statement of research interests at melitas@sabanciuniv.edu.
