Postdoctoral Researcher - Organoids/Embryoids
The Laboratory for Multiscale Biosystem Engineering, led by Dr. Yi Zheng, in the Department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering and Bioinspired Institute at Syracuse University, is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research on human stem cell-derived organoids/embryoids. Dr. Zheng has authored more than 30 journal articles, including Nature, Nature Materials, Cell Stem Cell, Science Advances, Nature Communications and Nature Protocols. His research has been recognized as a major breakthrough in related fields, and widely highlighted by public media, including Nature, National Public Radio, MIT Technology Review, BBC News, Chemical & Engineering News, Washington Times, ScienceDaily etc.
The postdoctoral scholar will work with human pluripotent stem cells and apply cutting-edge engineering approaches, including microfluidics/Lab-on-a-Chip, biomaterials, and 3D printing, to generate 3D organoids and embryoids with high precision and reproducibility. The scholar will use these models to study the fundamental mechanisms of human development and morphogenesis, aiming to uncover insights specific to the human system. Additionally, the postdoctoral scholar will investigate how environmental factors and lifestyle choices impact the structure and function of these in vitro models.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with potential for renewal, pending annual review of performance.
