Offer Description
The postdoctoral researcher will work in the NCN SONATA 21 project ‘Personalisation of affective images using generative artificial intelligence’ (UMO-2025/59/D/HS6/03333). The principal responsibilities will include developing and evaluating methods for personalising affective images using generative AI; collecting 3 and analysing data in work packages focused on model explainability, the specialisation of visionlanguage models as an ‘affective expert’, and stimulus personalisation; preparing preregistrations, code and documentation; coauthoring publications; and preparing open datasets, code and models in accordance with the project’s data management plan.

Skills/Qualifications
Applicants must meet the requirements of Article 113 of the Polish Law on Higher Education and Science and all of the following NCN conditions: 1) a PhD in computer science awarded in the year of employment or within the 12 years preceding 1 January of the year of employment (for employment in 2026: 2014–2026), subject to the career-break extensions permitted by the NCN; 2) a PhD awarded by an institution other than AMU, or completion of a continuous and documented research stay of at least nine months outside AMU and in a country other than the country in which the PhD was awarded; 3) availability for full-time employment and, during the employment period, no remuneration from the direct costs of another NCN project, no salary under an employment contract with another employer, and no pension or equivalent benefit; 4) a research record appropriate to the project tasks, experience in data analysis and programming (e.g. Python/R), knowledge of quantitative methods, and a very good command of English. Desirable qualifications include experience in emotion research, psychophysiology, generative AI, computer vision/VLMs, explainable AI, open science and teamwork.

Eligibility criteria
1. Compliance with the formal requirements of the NCN and AMU;
2. fit between the applicant’s methodological and technical expertise and the project tasks;
3. quality of the research record, taking account of the applicant’s career stage and career breaks;
4. experience in data analysis/programming and open science;
5. motivation and the proposed contribution to the project;
6. interview performance. Detailed scoring is provided in the competition committee’s assessment sheet.
Selection process
1. Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
2. Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
3. Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
4. Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
5. Interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements.
6. The committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates' work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation.
8. The chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates. This information will include justification with a reference to candidates' strengths and weaknesses.
