Offer Description
The postdoctoral project aims to study the profile of serum markers of cardiac function in subjects exposed to environmental contaminants in areas of interest in the Basilicata Region identified in the Lucas (Lucania Environment and Health) project. Biomarkers such as Coagulation Factor III, Follistatinlike 1/FSTL1, Pentraxin 3, E-Selectin, Trombomodulin, and Troponin I will be measured using Luminex technology. Furthermore, the project aims to study the molecular mechanisms of cardiotoxicity induced by pollutants typical of the project areas, using cardiomyocyte cell cultures. Representative contaminants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals will be tested. Cell viability, ROS production, mitochondrial function, intracellular calcium, and apoptosis will be assessed in cardiomyocytes. The project will identify key pathways and biomarkers useful for assessing environmental cardiovascular risk

Admission requirements:
- PhD or equivalent degree obtained abroad;
- Scientific and professional CV suitable for the postdoctoral position.
Other relevant qualifications
- PhD (or specialization, if in the medical field) in Science, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, or Medical Sciences with particular reference to applied biology and physiology curricula.
- Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Biotechnology for Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Veterinary Diagnostics (class LM-9), Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (class LM-13), Biology (class LM-6), or Medicine and Surgery (class LM-41).
- Research fellowships in the biomedical field, collaboration and research contracts in the biomedical field, advanced training courses and master's programs in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields.
Other relevant qualifications
- Research activity in the scientific field of the position that have enabled the acquisition of experience in managing patient biological samples (ethics committee applications, informed consent, clinical data management platforms) and skills in using in vitro models to study cardiac pathophysiology (primary and secondary cardiomyocyte cultures, etc.), collaboration in teaching and third mission activities, and relevant work experience for the position.
- Scientific publications in the field of patho-physiology of the heart.
- English language. Foreign candidates must have adequate knowledge of Italian language
