Postdoctoral Researcher - Proteomics & Cartilage-on-Chip
Job Summary
Develop personalized osteoarthritis treatments through cutting-edge organ-on-chip and omics technology. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will develop and apply advanced mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows, spatial omics strategies, and automated clinical sample preparation. You will collaborate with academic and industrial partners to integrate results for drug testing and clinical translation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced proteomics pipelines to characterize clinical samples.
- Automate sample preparation to accelerate clinical translation.
- Design and apply LC-MS/MS and MSI methods for biomarker discovery.
- Pioneer spatial omics approaches at single-cell resolution.
- Perform advanced bioinformatic analyses to uncover actionable insights.
- Collaborate closely with partners to integrate results for drug testing.
- Publish high-impact research and actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven expertise in proteomics, including experience with LC-MS/MS and ideally mass spectrometry imaging (MSI).
- Strong data analysis skills, confident with proteomics bioinformatics using tools such as MaxQuant, Perseus, R, or Python.
- Driven by impact, with a desire to translate scientific insights into solutions that help people.
- Translation-focused mindset, enjoying bridging lab-based findings with clinical applications.
- Independent and collaborative, taking initiative, communicating clearly, and valuing teamwork.
- Detail-oriented and curious, working with precision and always eager to learn more.
- Hold a PhD in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
What the Employer Offers
Employment at Maastricht University with a salary ranging from €3378 to €5331 gross per month based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week. Additional benefits include an 8.0% holiday allowance, an 8.3% year-end bonus, flexible working hours, possibility to work partly from home, 29 vacation days plus 4 additional public holidays per year, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
