Postdoctoral Researcher - Public Economics: Digital Economics and Public Policy

The Chair of Public Economics at D-MTEC invites applications for a postdoc position. The group's main focus is on theoretical and empirical research in the area of public economics, including corporate taxation, fiscal federalism, and public economy aspects of the digital economy.
Job description
The successful applicant is expected to work on issues related to the regulation of digital platforms and the taxation of their activities. Potential topics include:
- Taxation of digital products, two-sided markets, and network goods
- Net neutrality
- Privacy and public policy
- Value creation and taxation of corporate profits in the digital economy
- The effect of the digital economy on tax competition
- Artificial intelligence and fiscal systems
The work might involve both theoretical modeling and/or empirical analysis. Ideally, the research will combine insights from economics and disciplines such as computer science.
Profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in Economics with a strong economic foundation and show a clear interest in the topics of the research program. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated their potential to conduct high-quality research, ideally with papers under revision or accepted for publication in refereed international journals. The successful applicant is expected to independently conduct academic and policy-relevant research and contribute to ongoing research projects within the group. A strong command of English is required.
