Offer Description
The postdoctoral project, developed within the ERC project VISTA, will investigate novel mathematical and computational approaches for the discovery of governing laws in cardiovascular biomechanics, with a particular focus on atherosclerosis. The research will combine mathematical physics, multiscale modeling, symbolic regression, and scientific artificial intelligence to identify interpretable relationships linking hemodynamics, vascular remodeling, inflammation, and plaque evolution across spatial and temporal scales. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating physical principles, balance laws, symmetries, and prior biomedical knowledge into data-driven equation discovery frameworks. The project aims to develop rigorous methods for extracting analytical models from experimental, clinical, and simulation data, providing mechanistic insights into atherosclerotic disease progression and advancing explainable AI methodologies for scientific discovery in complex living systems
