Postdoctoral Scholar-Fixed Term
Position Summary
The Nano-Biosensors Lab in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Michigan State University, is seeking a Research Associate (Postdoctoral researcher) with a multidisciplinary background in nanotechnology, biosensors, microbiology (especially viruses), and animal diseases.
The position is an off-dated position for one year with the possibility of a second-year extension based on funding and performance. The position will start immediately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement the project on developing and validating nano-biosensing techniques to identify and detect viruses and profile their phenotypic characteristics
- Plan and execute research studies as assigned
- Collect and analyze data
- Prepare high-quality and high-impact manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Secure and maintain extramural funding
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students
Required Degree
Terminal -Ph.D. in Biosystems/Biological/Bio Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genomics
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biosystems/Biological/Bio Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genomics
- Evidence of scientific excellence and productivity
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desired Qualifications
Research experience in biosensor development, detection of infectious diseases in animal and clinical samples, phenotypic profiling of pathogens
