About the Position

The Department of Product Development, in collaboration with the research center imec, is seeking a doctoral scholarship holder to work on modular electronic architectures, with a focus on chiplet-based system design to improve scalability, reuse, and sustainability.

Your research will explore how modular hardware platforms can support adaptable applications such as modular environmental sensing, enabling long-lived, upgradeable, and circular electronic systems for diverse monitoring contexts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research for a PhD thesis on modular electronic architectures.
• Publish scientific articles related to the research project.
• Carry out limited teaching and research support tasks for technology-driven design in product development.

Profile / Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Product Development.
• Strong interest in digital electronics (PCB, IC), system architecture, and semiconductor technologies in the context of smart products.
• Research qualities aligned with the faculty and university research policies.
• Teaching competences in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
• Commitment to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
