Overview of the Position:
A full-time Postgraduate Research Associate position is available in a translational tumor immunology laboratory led by Dr. Kishu Ranjan and Dr. Kurt Schalper in the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine. The laboratory focuses on understanding mechanisms of immune evasion and therapy resistance in cancer, with particular emphasis on antigen presentation, tumor–immune interactions, and molecular pathways that regulate response to immunotherapy.
The selected candidate will contribute to research projects using cellular, molecular, and translational approaches to study how tumor cells alter immune recognition and how these mechanisms may be therapeutically targeted.
- Education: This position will provide structured research training in cancer biology, tumor immunology, antigen presentation, and translational pathology. The candidate will gain experience in experimental design, data interpretation, literature review, scientific presentation, and research communication.
- Training: The postgraduate associate will receive hands-on training in laboratory and analytical techniques relevant to tumor immunology and molecular oncology. Training may include spatial multiplex immunofluorescence, single cell transcriptomics, high-throughput drug screening assays, CRISPR-based approaches, in vitro tumor models, and biomedical data analysis.
- Mentoring: The candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator and senior laboratory members. They will participate in regular one-on-one meetings with the PI, weekly lab meetings, departmental seminars, and journal clubs. The position will provide mentorship in experimental planning, troubleshooting, data analysis, scientific communication, manuscript preparation, and career development. The candidate may also contribute to abstracts, presentations, and research manuscripts as appropriate.
- Location: The position will be based on-site in the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
- Appointment Term: This is a full-time, one-year postgraduate appointment with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and available funding.
- Compensation: Compensation will be $45,600 per year, with benefits provided in accordance with Yale University policy.
