Power Converters for Renewable Energy Powered Railway Grid
About the Project
This project focuses on the design and control of power electronic converters for connecting renewable energy into railway grid. It aims to evaluate solutions to key technical challenges currently facing the rail industry as it transitions towards power electronic converter–based electrification schemes. The research will enable parallel feeding of railway loads using static frequency converters and rail charging converters and facilities direct integration of renewable energy such as solar energy into the 25 kV network. This project will be a collaborative research project with industry partners, e.g. Siemens Ltd, and to deliver significant operational, economic, and environmental benefits to the railway industry.
Based Primarily at UoY.
