Practicum Education Coordinator (Educational Program Administrator)
JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut School of Social Work is seeking applicants for a full-time, end-dated position as a Practicum Education Coordinator (Educational Program Administrator) in the Practicum Education Department. ... The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to practicum education and promoting the professional development of micro and macro practice social work students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborating with practicum education staff and faculty to support the educational and professional development of MSW students.
- Building connections with community resources and agencies for networking, collaboration opportunities, professional development opportunities, and practicum placement opportunities, identifying and engaging new practicum training sites.
- Placing students in practicum sites and monitoring compliance as outlined by the Office of Clinical Placement Coordination (OCPC).
- Serving as Practicum Faculty Advisor to students, including making practicum site visits and holding advising seminars.
- Supporting the work of practicum instructors, including collaborating on SIFI instruction for new practicum instructors.
- Providing practicum instruction for and evaluation of students at practicum placements at sites without a BSW or MSW practicum instructor as needed.
- Serving on practicum education and other committees, as appropriate.
- Being involved with the BSW program/students as needed.
- Being visible in the community and conducting ongoing in-person meetings with the community agencies and organizations with whom we partner.
- Supporting the richness of diversity and employing pedagogical techniques to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.
- Performing other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- MSW degree.
- Demonstrated 5 years of social work experience, with at least 3 years of post-MSW social work experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience (i.e., supervising BSW or MSW interns and/or staff).
- Demonstrated potential for/evidence of building and maintaining effective working relationships with practicum placement settings and personnel.
- Stated commitment to and/or experience in promoting and fostering a learning environment supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- LCSW.
- At least 4-6 years of professional post-MSW practice experience in one or more of the following areas: with individuals, families, or groups in mental health, health, school, or similar micro social work practice settings and/or experience with communities and organizations or similar macro social work practice settings.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students and /or practicum advisors and practicum instructors.
- Demonstrated knowledge and relationships with practice organizations/settings in Connecticut.
- History of serving as a faculty academic and practicum advisor and/or practicum instructor to BSW and MSW students.
- Demonstrated ability to apply social work research and practice knowledge in advising and practicum instruction.
