JOB POSITION: Pre-doctoral Researcher in Biotechnology and Environmental Engineering
PROJECT TITLE: PURPLEGAS - Bioplatforms based on Purple Phototrophic Bacteria for the Valorization of Biogenic Gases into Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The valorization of single-carbon (C1) gases, such as CO2 and CO, is an important step towards a circular and climate-neutral economy. However, their use remains limited by the lack of robust bioprocesses capable of converting them into high-value products. PURPLEGAS is an interdisciplinary project that aims to develop a circular bioprocess for converting biogenic gases into ingredients for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. The researcher will design and operate a photobioreactor to convert C1 gases into valuable products, help optimize the process, and contribute to scientific publications, dissemination activities and other project-related tasks.
DURATION: 01/11/2026 - 31/10/2028
MONTHLY GROSS SALARY: €1,980 (approx.)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biotechnology, Environmental or Chemical Engineering, or related fields. Candidates may have completed or be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Strong motivation for research and professional development, willingness to undertake doctoral studies, and a serious and committed approach to work responsibilities.
