Pre-School Lead Teacher
Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Pre-School Lead Teacher provides high-quality care and education for preschool-aged children while fostering strong connections with families, students, and staff. The Preschool Lead Teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports developmental growth, maintains health and safety standards, and contributes to a collaborative teaching community.
- Primary caregiver of preschool-age children; supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
- Plans and implements age-appropriate indoor/outdoor activities for preschool-age children, including those with special needs in collaboration with the CHIME Early Education Staff based on development readiness, goals, and observation.
- Daily contact with parents, visitors, and supervision of Field Students & University Students.
- Maintains health and safety standards in the classroom; keeps classroom, storage rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and yard clean, orderly, and inviting.
- Maintains daily record keeping, portfolios, parent conference/evaluations; Completes developmental assessments on each child at least twice annually. Conducts individual conferences with parents of each child at least twice annually. Keeps regular correspondence with parents.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or higher level of education in Child Development or Early Childhood education is preferred. Incumbents who do not possess a degree must have completed at least 24 units in Child Development or Early Childhood education, 6 specialized units, required adult supervision units, and the additional general education requirements.
- Incumbents who possess a Bachelor's degree or higher must have completed the required units of supervised field experience.
- Incumbents without a degree must meet the specified days of experience within the last 4 years. This is equivalent roughly to 1-2 years of experience, including 1 year of experience providing teacher/staff supervision.
- CERTIFICATIONS: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS VERIFICATION OF MEASLES, MUMPS, RUEBELLA, Tdap, AND TB TEST, RENEWAL REQUIRED; AND MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN INFANT/CHILD CPR AND FIRST-AID CERTIFICATION.

- Child Development & Safety Expertise - Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of preschool-aged children. Ability to remain attentive to individual and group needs, applying strong observational and problem-solving skills in a nurturing environment.
- Collaboration & Mentorship Skills - Ability to support and guide university students, interns, and assistants through reflective feedback and collaborative team-teaching. Skilled in fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages professional growth, teamwork, and high-quality educational experiences.
- Curriculum Design & Adaptation - Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and ability to design engaging indoor and outdoor learning experiences for preschool-aged children. Skilled at adapting activities to meet diverse developmental needs, including those of children with special needs, in collaboration with educational staff.
- Family & Community Engagement - Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive, respectful relationships with parents, visitors, and university students. Ability to maintain ongoing, professional contact that supports family partnerships and enhances the learning community.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more. Classification: Early Childhood Master Teacher / 1970 / 1. The anticipated HIRING RATE is $3851.75 (Part Time Equivalent) per month. The salary range for this classification is: $3613.75 - $5421.50 (Part Time Equivalent) per month. HOURS: Part Time; 35 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
