Predoctoral Researcher
PREDOCTORAL RESEARCHER, Economics, to support all stages of the research process on projects at the intersection of artificial intelligence, labor markets, and economics, investigating how the rapid adoption of AI is transforming work, and how algorithmic decision-making shapes markets; gain exposure to and training in a broad set of research topics in economics and computer science; and be responsible for collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data, natural language processing, and editing papers for publication. They will be fully integrated into the research community at MIT. The position is ideally suited to those planning to attend graduate school in economics, computer science, or a related field.
REQUIRED: A bachelor's degree in economics, computer science, mathematics, statistics or a related field; a minimum of two years of specialized experience with qualitative data analysis, research methods (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); strong quantitative and programming skills, time and project management skills and high accuracy of details; and ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion. PREFERRED: Knowledge of Python, Stata or R; research experience; and experience working with large data sets.
Preferred start date is June 1st, 2026, with some flexibility. An employment term of 1-2 years is expected.
