Predoctoral Researcher in Demography
The Department of Demography at the University of Vienna is seeking a predoctoral researcher to undertake a PhD thesis in areas such as fertility and family demography or demographic analysis of population-environment interactions. The position involves teaching in English, participating in departmental activities, and enrolling in the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (https://vds-sosci.univie.ac.at/).
Your future tasks include active participation in research, teaching, and administration: developing your research profile, conducting high-quality research with international presentations and publications, collaborating with experts, completing 30 ECTS in the doctoral program (https://vds-sosci.univie.ac.at/doctoral-programme/), holding courses independently, and contributing to departmental administration.
Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Demography, Quantitative Sociology, Economics, Social Statistics, Human Geography, or related field with a focus on quantitative methods; excellent knowledge of demography; a strong Master’s thesis on a demographic topic; experience with demographic data; proficiency in statistical software like Stata, R, or Python; and proficiency in English.
What we offer: Employment for 4 years (initially 1.5 years, extendable), flexible working hours with partial remote work, an inspiring international environment, good public transport access, internal training opportunities, and a basic salary of EUR 3,714.80 for full-time (adjusted for 30 hours).
