Offer Description
The CNIC is offering a Predoctoral Researcher position in the Translational Laboratory for Cardiovascular Imaging and Therapy, led by Dr. Borja Ibáñez.
The successful candidate will carry out their PhD research within the framework of the project “Cardiovascular Immunometabolism: A Novel Therapeutic Target in Cardio-Oncology (THUNDERHEART)” (Project PID2025-170915OB-I00), funded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Union, under the 2025 Knowledge Generation Projects Call of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree equivalent to 300 ECTS credits or more, or a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree that grants access to a PhD programme, in disciplines related to the life sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Medicine, Biomedicine, Veterinary Sciences, etc.).
- Be admitted to a PhD programme at the time the employment contract is formalized.
- Not have exhausted the maximum four-year period of employment under the same predoctoral contract scheme, in accordance with Article 21 of the Spanish Science Act.
- Not already hold a PhD degree awarded by any Spanish or foreign university.
- Hold certification to work with experimental models, Functions B and C (Order ECC/566/2015).

Requirements relating to the candidate's academic and/or scientific-technical background
- C1. Scientific and Technical Contributions. The candidate’s academic record and other curriculum vitae merits will be evaluated, as well as their suitability for the tasks to be performed, considering their educational background and professional experience.
- C2. Mobility and Internationalization. The relevance and impact of the candidate’s research stays in national and international institutions and/or in the industrial sector will be assessed, taking into account the prestige of the host institution and the activities carried out during the placement.
Requirements relating to the suitability of the candidate for the research activities to be carried out
- C3. Knowledge or Experience in Large In Vivo Experimental Models, Surgical, Medical, and Advanced Imaging Techniques. Knowledge and practical experience in large animal models, surgical procedures, medical techniques, and advanced imaging methodologies will be evaluated.
- C4. Knowledge or Experience in Cardiovascular Diseases. Knowledge and research experience in the field of cardiovascular diseases will be assessed.
- C5. Strong English Communication Skills. Demonstrated high level in written and oral scientific communication in English.
- C6. Interview
Positive action: a correction index of 1.5 is established for each year of experience in the evaluation of the number of years in those criteria where experience is evaluated, in the event that the disable person greater than 66% and 1.2 in the event that the disable person greater than 30%.

SCORING CRITERIA:
C1. Scientific and Technical Contributions.The candidate’s academic record and other curriculum vitae merits will be assessed, as well as their suitability for the tasks to be performed, considering their educational background and professional experience. Candidates must provide an official academic transcript and will be evaluated based on their cumulative grade point average. 45%
C2. Mobility and Internationalization.The relevance and impact of the candidate’s research stays in national and international institutions and/or in the industrial sector will be assessed, taking into account the prestige of the host institution and the activities carried out during the placement. This information must be reflected in the CV and will be evaluated according to the duration of the stays (in years or fractions thereof). 5%
C3.Knowledge or experience in large experimental models, surgical procedures, medical techniques, and advanced imaging methodologies will be assessed. This information must be reflected in the CV and will be evaluated as a whole, considering the relationship between length of experience and area of specialization. 10%
C4.Knowledge or experience in the field of cardiovascular diseases will be assessed as a whole, taking into account the relationship between length of experience and area of specialization, based on the techniques and expertise described in the CV. 10%
C5.Strong written and oral communication skills in English must be demonstrated in the CV and will be evaluated according to the certified level of English. 10%
C6. Interview. 20%
Selection process
RECRUITMENT PLAN:
The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, set forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (concurso), the competition (concurso-oposición) must be the recruitment system”
In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-base recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.
At least the 3 candidates with the highest score, as long as they reach the minimum of 60 points as a sum of criteria (C1‐C5) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C6) is higher than 75 points.
