Purpose of the Position: Under the general direction of the cook staff, this position may perform production duties such as baking, roasting, frying, etc. Other duties may include stocking, dish room operation, trash removal and mopping.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends
- Ability to read and comprehend recipes, lists, and production needs
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Ability to work in congested work areas and areas where wet processes are used
- Ability to wear protective footwear
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience: Previous experience in the food service industry
Additional Consideration(s):
Experience: Experience reading and interpreting recipes; Experience managing production requirements; Experience with safety protocols and procedures; Experience with sanitation practices and standards; Experience in the operation of commercial kitchen equipment

Salary Information: Starting at $15.00 per hour, Commensurate with Education and Experience
Conditions of Employment: This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period; Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program
