About the role
We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to play a key role in an exciting strategic partnership between UTS and the Australian Museum. As part of this partnership, UTS is supporting digitisation and visualisation of the Museum’s extensive collections of cultural artefacts and natural science specimens for their preservation and enhanced access nationally and internationally. The appointee will work closesly with UTS academics and Australian Museum leaders and scientists to identify user communities for digitized collection data and develop appropriate technologies and methods to engage them.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will also participate in collaborative research projects and support UTS-Australian Museum initiatives in STEM education for students and the public, particularly in relation to science and technology, and in science communication.
While having a disciplinary background in digital technology and visualisation, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow wil be required to work across multiple UTS Faculties and Schools including the Faculty of Science; the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building, and the Faculty of Engineering and IT.

As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the team. To be successful in this role you will have a strong commitment to public engagement and a demonstrated research track record. Other requirements will include:
• PhD in a relevant field
• In-depth disciplinary knowledge of digitisation and visualisation technologies and techniques
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic research and teaching in STEM and/or creative disciplines
• Strong sense of social justice and inclusion

Remuneration/Salary![]()
Base Salary Range: $119,475 to $141,405 pa (Level B)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and an appointment will be made on fixed term basis for two years.
