Job Description
Under the direction of the Program Director, the primary responsibilities of the Principal Faculty are to design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the Didactic Phase curriculum. Additionally, the fulfillment of the following LMU-SMS faculty duties Provide student instructionEvaluate student performanceProvide academic counseling for studentsAssure the availability of remedial instruction
Select student applicants for admission to the ProgramEvaluate the ProgramParticipate in Program/SMS/LMU committeesComplete scholarly activities
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a doctoral degree is required. A minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical experience as a licensed pharmacist.Current Florida licensure as a pharmacist or eligibility to obtain licensure. Excellent oral, written, organizational, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience in a Physician Assistant or other health profession program is preferred.

Job Duties
- Serve as Course Director for Pharmacology courses
- Design and revise course syllabi
- Provide guidance to Principal Faculty and Instructional Faculty on the following
- Course learning outcomes and instructional objectives
- Depth and breadth of content to be covered
- Format of instruction delivery
- Update course content to reflect new FDA drug approvals, black-box warnings, and shifts in clinical practice guidelines (e.g., ADA, ACC/AHA).
- Develop and validate assessments that specifically measure clinical reasoning in pharmacotherapy and safe prescribing habits
- Format of assessment of student performance
- Complete End-of-Course reports for assigned Didactic Phase courses and present conclusions based on data analysis and recommendations for action(s)/modification(s) to the Curriculum Committee
- Participate in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the Didactic Cumulative Assessment and the Summative Evaluation
- Serve as the primary liaison for interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives between the PA program and other medical/pharmacy disciplines
- Provide academic counseling for students enrolled in the Program
- Assist in the review/revision of the Student Handbook and the Student Catalog as assigned.
- Participate in the Program's continuous self-assessment process as directed
- Assist the Program Director in preparing documentation for the Accreditation Review Commission on the Education of the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as requested.
- Adhere to all Program, SMS, and LMU policies and procedures
- Promote a positive learning environment for all students
- Provide instruction in pharmacology for students in a variety of formats for Didactic Phase courses
- Assess student performance in a variety of assessments in the Didactic Phase.
- Provide remedial instruction for students identified to be at-risk or requiring remediation in the Didactic Phase
- Assess student performance in the Didactic Phase and student readiness to progress to the Clinical Phase
- Assess student performance in the Clinical Phase Cumulative Assessment and student readiness to progress to the Summative Evaluation.
- Assess student performance in the Summative Evaluation and student readiness to progress to Graduation.
- Participate in Program committees as assigned (Faculty Staff Committee, Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee, and Student Progress Committee)
- Participate in SMS and LMU committees as assigned.
- Participate in the development, review, and revision of the Program's mission statement, goals, learning outcomes, and graduate competencies
- Participate in the selection of student applicants for admission to the Program. Stay current with clinical practice standards through active clinical practice and/or pursuit of continuing education
- Stay current with standards of PA education through pursuit of continuing education (e.g. conferences, seminars, workshops, community groups, etc.)
- Consider scholarship opportunities such as participating in original research, peer-reviewed publications, presentations at professional conferences, and collaboration with colleagues and other health professionals.
- Promote the mission of LMU, the SMS, and the Program to all faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
