Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research Infrastructure)

UNSW has now embarked upon a global search for the next Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research Infrastructure). This position reports directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise) and works closely with senior academic and operational leaders across the University in advancing the University’s strategic vision, “Progress for All”, through world-class research infrastructure.
The role provides strategic and operational leadership across UNSW’s central research infrastructure portfolio, including the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre, Research Technology Services, Research Imaging NSW, and Animal Services. As such, the successful candidate will have a strong track record in research leadership and large-scale infrastructure management, with the ability to guide investment, strategic planning, and operations across complex facilities. They will be skilled in engaging a broad range of stakeholders, from academic leaders and government agencies to industry collaborators, and adept at navigating evolving research needs and technological change, to ensure UNSW’s infrastructure remains responsive, future-ready, and aligned with national priorities. As a key representative of UNSW in national and international forums the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research Infrastructure) will advocate for the University’s research capabilities and infrastructure excellence.
