Procedure Scheduler - Perioperative Service Area
Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine the Procedure Scheduler in the Peri-operative Service Area is responsible for coordinating the daily scheduling of our operating room and procedure rooms with other staff utilizing the our scheduling system.
Duties of an Procedure Scheduler in the Peri-operative Services Area may include the following but are not limited to:
- Create a daily schedule from cases booked in the Surgical Que based on room availability and ensuring the appropriate equipment is available.
- Add the final Anesthesia providers in the system and ensure they appear on the final schedule for the following day.
- Monitor physician privileges for community doctors and coordinate multiple surgeon cases and proctoring scheduling when applicable.
- Utilize block booking schedules to coordinate operating room time.
- Schedule pre-operative testing appointments directly with patients and any preoperative testing including but not limited to giving patients appointment information.
- Provide training as necessary to new staff.
- The scheduling tasks include both the Main Operating Room as well as the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree and at least 2 years of experience in a hospital/healthcare setting working with a computerized patient/procedure scheduling system or, in lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of experience in a hospital/healthcare setting working with a computerized patient/procedure scheduling system. Detail orientated. Well organized. Works well within a group. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Admitting/registration experience. Surgery scheduling experience in Hospital, Physician Office or Outpatient Surgery Center. Familiarity using the following hospital programs: Cerner scheduling (Surginet) / Power Chart/ Microsoft Office.Special Notes:

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $45,372 - $53,060 / year.
The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
- Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($4000)
