L’École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is a growing university of engineering and technology located in downtown Montreal. The Department of General Education (DEG) at ÉTS is seeking two individuals for a career in university teaching as professor or assistant professor in computer science. The department provides French-language teaching and is responsible for general education courses in engineering programs: mathematics, fundamental sciences, computer science, management, communication, humanities, etc. It also manages the technology university pathway program.
Professors and assistant professors are integral to the permanent faculty, with primary responsibilities in teaching, pedagogical development, and participation in university activities. They may also engage in recognized research activities. This opportunity is ideal for those interested in active involvement in teaching and developing new learning strategies and methods.
You must demonstrate advanced skills in communication, teaching, and pedagogical development.
Job Description:
- Teach undergraduate courses in the Department of General Education, such as: Introduction to programming in C, JAVA, Python, VBA; Web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; Mobile programming; Introduction to databases; and Integrated computer science projects.
- Participate in pedagogical development and/or research projects.
- Teach 4 course groups and associated practical work per annual teaching cycle.
- Supervise students.
- Coordinate multiple groups for the same course.
- Contribute to course design and improvement.
Requirements:
- Hold a master’s degree in computer science or a relevant field; a doctoral degree in computer science or a related field is an asset.
- Possess university or college-level teaching experience, including course preparation, delivery, student evaluation, and development of pedagogical materials (an asset).
- Demonstrate strong interest in learning, innovation, and pedagogical development.
- Show ability to cooperate, exchange, work in teams, and collaborate with other faculty members.
- Master spoken and written French in accordance with the ÉTS Language Policy.
Start Date: June 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
