Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor of Urban Studies
The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF URBAN STUDIES. The successful applicant may be appointed to a permanent professorship or a fixed-term associate/assistant professorship (tenure track), depending on qualifications and career stage. JOB DESCRIPTION
The position focuses on the study of inequality and segregation at the urban and regional levels, with emphasis on the empirical assessment of causal effects of policy measures using quantitative methods. The candidate is expected to build interactions with decision-makers in urban policies, promote societal impact of research, and work within the Social and Public Policy discipline. It requires commitment to interdisciplinarity, cooperation with domestic and international actors, participation in obtaining external funding, and teaching in various programs, including supervision of theses and dissertations.
QUALIFICATIONS
For assistant/associate professor: A doctoral degree, ability to conduct independent scholarly work, teaching skills, and motivation for an academic career, evidenced by publications and funding success. For professor: A doctoral degree, high-level academic qualifications, experience in leading research, teaching, supervising dissertations, and international cooperation. Assessment includes scholarly publications, teaching experience, funding acquisition, international experience, and leadership skills. Good English skills are required; proficiency in Finnish or Swedish is expected over time.
WHAT WE OFFER
An equal opportunity employer with an attractive workplace. Annual gross salary for a full professor is between €74,000 and €90,000, and for assistant/associate professor between €61,000 and €73,000, based on qualifications. The appointee must reside in Finland, with relocation assistance provided.
