Job Requirements

The Department of Film, Television and New Media is seeking creative and experienced candidates in game design and development, with a focus on one or more of the following areas:

• Game Character Design, Modelling and Animation
• Game Programming and Development (Unity/Unreal Engine)
• Game Level and Scene Design

The successful candidate will maintain a creative practice or research while teaching, managing, supervising, facilitating field trips, tutoring, and caring for UG and PG students.

Candidates should possess demonstrated industry or academic experience in designing and developing complete games, with solid technical and artistic skills. Applicants are expected to engage in creative practice or research, while contributing to teaching, curriculum development, student supervision, project mentorship, and community outreach.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or at least a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Game Design, Game Development, Computer Science with a game-related focus, Digital Media, or a closely related discipline. Priority will be given to candidates with a strong portfolio of games industry experience or published games-related research/creative output. Candidates should be capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in game art, game engines (Unity/Unreal), 3D character/scene design and animation, interactive storytelling, gameplay mechanics, prototyping, and user experience design.

Proficiency in English is required, as it is the medium of instruction. Academic rank will be determined based on experience and research accomplishments.

Benefits and Appointment Terms

Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave, social insurance, and commercial insurance. Appointments will initially be on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
