Offer Description
Termez State University invites applications from highly qualified international academics for a Professor / Associate Professor position at the Faculty of Law.
The position is intended to strengthen teaching and research in legal studies, expand English-medium academic programmes, introduce contemporary approaches to legal education and research, and promote international academic cooperation.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses in English;
- conduct high-quality academic research and publish scholarly work;
- contribute to the development and improvement of curricula, syllabi and teaching materials;
- supervise and mentor students and early-career researchers;
- contribute to international academic and research cooperation;
- participate in the development of research projects and grant proposals;
- contribute to the internationalisation and academic development of the Faculty of Law and Termez State University.
Priority teaching and research areas include:
- International Law;
- Public Law;
- Theory of State and Law;
- Legal History;
- Corporate Law;
- Financial Law;
- other closely related areas of legal studies.
The specific department and teaching assignment will be determined during the Zoom interview, taking into account the candidate’s academic specialisation, professional experience and the current needs of the Faculty of Law.

Skills/Qualifications
The candidate should hold a PhD, DSc, or an internationally recognised equivalent doctoral degree in Law, Legal Studies, International Law, Public Law, Financial Law, Corporate Law, Legal Theory, Legal History, or a closely related field.
The successful candidate should demonstrate strong teaching and research competence in the relevant area of law, the ability to teach university-level courses in English, experience in conducting academic research and publishing scholarly work, and the ability to supervise and mentor students and early-career researchers.
Experience in international academic cooperation, research projects, grant applications, curriculum development, comparative legal studies, and modern approaches to legal education will be considered an advantage.
Specific Requirements
- PhD, DSc, or equivalent doctoral qualification in Law or a closely related field;
- at least 3 years of professional experience in higher education and/or research for PhD holders;
- for Professor-level appointments, an academic title of Professor;
- H-index of 5 or higher;
- a record of international research publications and professional achievements;
- experience in university teaching and/or academic supervision;
- ability to teach in English;
- ability to contribute to the academic, research and international development of the Faculty of Law and Termez State University.

Additional Information
Benefits
The annual salary will range from USD 20,000 to USD 30,000, depending on the candidate’s academic qualifications, academic title, research achievements, professional experience, and the responsibilities associated with the position. The annual salary will be paid in monthly instalments. The exact salary will be discussed and agreed during the Zoom interview.
Additional benefits and support may include:
- one-time one-way airfare;
- visa and relocation support;
- standard medical insurance;
- university campus accommodation may be available for faculty members relocating individually;
- annual reimbursement for essential teaching and office supplies;
- partial reimbursement of expenses related to participation in international conferences and other relevant academic events.
The exact financial and administrative arrangements concerning airfare, medical insurance and relocation support will be discussed and agreed during the Zoom interview.
Family accommodation is not available on the University campus. Candidates relocating with their spouse and/or family members will need to arrange private accommodation in Termez.
Termez offers a relatively affordable cost of living compared with many other regions of Uzbekistan, including housing, local transportation, food and other everyday expenses.
Faculty members may also have opportunities to earn additional income through participation in national and international research grant projects. Optional teaching beyond the standard full-time workload may also be available and will be remunerated separately.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates must hold a PhD, DSc, or an internationally recognised equivalent doctoral qualification in Law, Legal Studies, International Law, Public Law, Financial Law, Corporate Law, Legal Theory, Legal History, or a closely related field.
PhD holders are expected to have at least 3 years of professional experience in higher education and/or research. For Professor-level appointments, an academic title of Professor is required.
Candidates are expected to have:
- an H-index of 5 or higher;
- a record of international research publications and professional achievements;
- experience in university teaching and/or academic supervision;
- the ability to teach in English;
- the capacity to contribute to research, academic cooperation and the international development of the Faculty of Law and Termez State University.
The position is open to qualified candidates from all countries, and applications will be assessed on academic merit and professional qualifications.
The specific department and teaching assignment within the Faculty of Law will be determined during the Zoom interview, taking into account the candidate’s academic specialisation, professional experience and the current needs of the Faculty.
Selection process
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

The selection process will include:
- preliminary review of the submitted documents;
- verification of compliance with the academic and professional requirements;
- assessment of the candidate’s teaching and research profile;
- a Zoom interview conducted in English;
- where appropriate, a sample lecture and/or research presentation.
During the Zoom interview, the parties will discuss and agree on the exact salary, duration of the employment contract, proposed starting date, specific department and teaching assignment, airfare, medical insurance, relocation arrangements and other relevant employment conditions.
The candidate’s academic qualifications, publication record, H-index, teaching and research experience, international academic activities, and potential contribution to the development of the Faculty of Law and Termez State University will be considered.
Additional documents or information may be requested during the assessment process. The final candidate will be recommended by the relevant University working group or authorised commission.
