Position Summary/Purpose
The Chair is the chief administrative officer of the Entomology Department in the College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences (CMNS). The Chair reports to the Dean of CMNS and collaborates closely with the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources due to faculty joint appointments and extension programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading research, teaching, extension, and service excellence.
- Developing and implementing a vision for the department’s future.
- Managing budgets and supporting extramural funding.
- Ensuring quality in undergraduate/graduate teaching and advising.
- Promoting faculty, staff, and student professional development.
- Recruiting and retaining outstanding and diverse personnel.
- Fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
- Effective communication with university and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Entomology, Biology, or related Life Sciences.
- Eligibility for tenured Professor rank in the College.
- Outstanding research and educational record.
- Demonstrated administrative leadership skills and vision.
