Job Description

NUS Dentistry seeks an outstanding academic leader to join the Faculty of Dentistry as a Full Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS). The successful candidate will have an exceptional record of clinical expertise, research productivity, teaching excellence, and leadership within the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. This senior faculty member will contribute to the advancement of the department’s academic, clinical, and research missions while mentoring junior faculty and residents.

Academic & Teaching

  • Provide high-quality didactic, clinical, and laboratory instruction to undergraduate dental students, OMS residents, and postgraduate trainees.
  • Develop and update curriculum in accordance with accreditation standards and emerging scientific evidence.
  • Supervise clinical training, surgical simulations, and operative procedures.
  • Mentor graduate students, residents, and early-career faculty members.

B. Research & Scholarship

  • Maintain an active, externally funded research program with national or international recognition.
  • Publish regularly in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across dental, medical, and biomedical sciences.
  • Deliver invited lectures at national and international conferences.

C. Clinical Service

  • Provide advanced oral and maxillofacial surgical care within the dental school’s clinical facilities and affiliated hospitals.
  • Demonstrate excellence in surgical procedures (e.g., orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, dentoalveolar surgery, pathology, implants).
  • Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, ethics, and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree.
  • Completion of an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
  • Board certification or eligibility (AAOMS, RCDC, or relevant national board).
  • PhD or advanced research degree preferred (optional depending on institution).
  • Distinguished record of publications, research funding, and academic achievement.
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of demonstrated excellence in academic OMFS.
  • Proven ability to teach, mentor, and lead in a university or hospital environment.
