Role Profile
The successful individual will be a member of the Financial and Operational Performance Group in DCU Business School. They will conduct high quality research and teaching in Accounting (i.e. financial accounting/reporting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, sustainable accounting, accounting analytics/technologies) and will also participate in the School’s external engagement activities. Further, the successful individual is expected to contribute to: the leadership of strategic initiatives in the discipline and School; programme management; research funding initiatives and supervision; and the service and engagement activities of the School and University.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent (NFQ Level 10) in Accounting, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution.
Research Excellence:
- Proven excellent track record of high-quality research outputs, particularly publications in top tier, international, peer-reviewed accounting journals.
- A current pipeline of research projects expected to lead to publications in top tier, international journals.
Teaching Experience:
- A proven track record of excellence in teaching, with evidence of the ability to inspire students and foster an engaging learning environment.
External Engagement:
- Experience in effective external engagement with the accounting profession and/or the business community, such as partnerships, consultancy, or collaboration with industry bodies.
Leadership Attributes:
- Clear leadership attributes and skills that will contribute to the development and execution of the School’s strategy and the enrichment of the School’s national and international reputation.
Desirable
Professional Qualifications and Experience:
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, CPA, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Relevant professional or industry experience in accounting or related fields.
Research Funding:
- A track record of securing research funding from external sources, including government grants or industry collaborations.
Contributions to the Accounting Profession:
- A track record of engagement with the accounting profession (professional bodies, professional services firms, etc), either through consulting, professional development, advisory roles, or contributions to policy debates or industry standards.
Experience in Strategic Initiatives and Development:
- A track record of contributing to the development and execution of strategy in an academic environment and evidence of capabilities to lead strategic initiatives.
Salary Scale:
Professor - €105,561 - €141,093
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
