University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Professor in Economics in School of Economics.

It is looking for an ambitious and talented specialist in macroeconomics, trade and/or international macroeconomics with a passion for teaching and research to join its team of experts. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (Masters and PhD) in the School of Economics and to take a leadership role in the School's policy think tank, Global Economic Policy.

Suitably qualified candidates must have a PhD degree in an economics and should have an internationally recognized research programme in macroeconomics, international trade and/or international macroeconomics, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills in English. The role holder will be expected to make a significant leadership impact within the School of Economics and should demonstrate excellence in research and teaching within the area of their expertise. The School would like to hire a candidate with teaching and research expertise in either Macroeconomics, International Economics or Trade. The candidate will also assume leadership of the Centre for Global Economic Policy (GEP).

As the position of professor is a leadership role, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the organisation, management and strategic planning of the School of Economics and in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The candidate will also contribute to the University’s strategic planning processes. They will act as principal investigator on major research projects in their area of expertise and will identify opportunities for the development of new research projects.

The role holder will take responsibility for the quality and design of courses and programmes and maintain high teaching standards and contribute generally to the development of teaching, teaching methods and assessments in the School of Economics.

The role holder may have line management responsibilities including the responsibility for the professional development of junior academic faculty and contribute to the overall administration of the School and its research units as required by the Head of School.

The successful candidate will be initially offered a five-year contract, which may be subsequently extended to a continuing appointment based on performance. The remuneration package for the successful candidate will include a competitive salary package, as well as accommodation allowance, health insurance, schooling support, home flight, relocation & repatriation support, and paid annual leave.
