Professor in Environmental Health with a One Health Approach

L’École de santé publique de l’Université de Montréal (ESPUM) is recruiting a professor at the associate or full professor level for the development of research and teaching in environmental health, particularly in One Health.

Daily Challenges: Through teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and research activities, you will contribute to the promotion of excellence. You will ensure the visibility of your discipline and actively participate in the operations of a renowned institution. As a professor and holder of a Canada Research Chair, you will:

  • Leverage world-class leadership in Environmental Health with a One Health approach, aligned with Canadian government priorities in science, technology, and innovation, generating positive social and economic impacts.
  • Promote co-creation of research projects and interventions with partners from all sectors (academic, public, private, non-profit) to apply research results on the impact of environmental factors on vulnerable populations, benefiting all Canadians. Facilitate the mobilization and application of research results in various forms to foster economic growth and social innovation.
  • Have the opportunity to apply for infrastructure from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (FCI).
  • Deliver teaching at all levels in the Department of Environmental Health and Occupational Health (DSEST) programs and in the interfaculty doctoral program in One Health.
  • Supervise students at all levels and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Lead large national and international interfaculty projects.
  • Actively contribute to the operations of the Department and School in academic, pedagogical, and scientific activities.

Qualifications:

  • Be eligible for the Canada Research Chairs Program and submit a candidacy for the 2026 competition.
  • Hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., public health, environmental health, toxicology).
  • Demonstrate cutting-edge expertise and international recognition as an expert in environmental health and the One Health approach.
  • Have international visibility in the field and exercise strong leadership in major international networks.
  • Be able to lead ambitious and productive research teams.
  • Possess qualities to conduct research that mobilizes and applies knowledge for social and economic benefits to Canadians and the world.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide interdisciplinary teaching.
  • Have the capacity to work in teams in an interdisciplinary context, complementing the faculty of DSEST and ESPUM.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of French or be determined to learn it through the University’s French language support program, in accordance with the University’s language policy.
