If you are establishing your career as a scientist and you are looking for the best possible foundation for fulfilling your dreams and ambitions, it is right here in front of you.
At DTU Construct, you will lead the research area focused on fundamental turbulence, while also making connections to applied research in fluid mechanics and related fields. Your role will be pivotal in providing foundational support for a diverse range of research initiatives. You will be engaged in research in experimental, theoretical, and computational methods. Examples of your work will include turbulence research pertaining to combustion engines, spray dryers, and industrial pumps.
Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competencies within fluid mechanics with special focus on turbulence research and application of the areas within engineering. The area is significant to industry as processes governed by fluid mechanics are key in combustion engines, spray dryers, industrial pumps, mixing processes in process tanks etc.
You will successfully develop a strong research group within fluid mechanics. You can motivate and engage younger colleagues. You will collaborate with other colleagues and research groups inside the department as well as across DTU and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your ability to work collaboratively and foster a supportive, innovative learning environment is key to success.
The professor must have a proven track record within several of the following research fields:
- Experience in experimental research on non-equilibrium turbulence
- Multi-phase turbulent flows, e.g. turbulence with particles, bubbles and droplets
- Research on the interaction between dispersed and carrier phases in turbulent flows, relevant for complex fluid interactions and their energy exchanges
- Ability to develop customized experimental, theoretical, and computational methods and tools to address turbulence in fluid mechanics
- Deep knowledge on fluid mechanics in general
Candidates for the professorship must demonstrate remarkable achievements in terms of:
- A high international level of research production, which has contributed to the advancement of the research field.
- A proven record of developing experimental methodologies and associated research facilities.
- Documented and successful teaching at all university levels.
- A proven track record in attracting and managing research projects.
Furthermore, the candidate must be:
- Highly self-motivated,
- Ready to take on new and challenging tasks,
- Dedicated to developing talent
- Motivated to contribute to a dynamic environment where research and education on the highest international level are cornerstones
