Background of the recruitment and description of the project:
The Division of Mathematical Science for Social Systems, Graduate School of Engineering Science, the University of Osaka, is currently inviting applications for a Professor position in the field of Mathematical Statistics. We seek a candidate who will lead cutting-edge research in mathematical statistics, particularly research motivated by data analysis of social systems such as finance, and who will actively supervise and train highly capable doctoral students. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the advancement of interdisciplinary areas spanning statistical science and machine learning, and to promote collaboration with industry through joint research initiatives.

Work content and job description:
- Conduct research in the area of Mathematical Statistics
- Educational activities for graduate students (Mathematical Statistics, Data Science) and undergraduate students (Calculus, Linear Algebra, Elementary Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematical Programming, Fourier Analysis etc.)
- Research and educational guidance for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Administrative duties of the Division of Mathematical Science for Social Systems and Mathematical Science Course, the University of Osaka.
- Administrative duties within the Graduate School of Engineering Science / School of Engineering Science and the University of Osaka.
- The successful candidate will also be a member of the Center for Mathematical Modeling and Data Science, the University of Osaka.

Annual salary: 8 million yen
Wages description: An annual salary system (with retirement allowance) applies. The amount is an estimate and will be determined in accordance with the university's regulations, taking into consideration experience and other factors.
