We are looking for an experienced scientist for a position as director of the Centre for Cluster Headache and group leader at the department of neuroscience, which conducts preclinical research and research education. The department conducts successful preclinical research and postgraduate education in the field of neuroscience. The center has close collaborations with clinical operations and organizations. The center is located at Biomedicum in Solna.
Description of the subject area
The Centre for Cluster Headache at the Department of Neuroscience conducts research within neurobiology with a focus on neurological disorders and a special orientation on primary headache disorders. The unit's research aims to increase knowledge behind the molecular and genetic mechanisms that give rise to headache disorders, as well as to identify new targets for diagnosis and treatment. The unit conducts research in three focus areas: genetics, circadian rhythms and inflammation. This includes the establishment and responsibility for a biobank with biological material and data from study participants with and without diseases of the nervous system. The unit has extensive collaboration with clinical activities and patient organizations. The center is located in Biomedicum in Solna.
Your mission
The position as professor of neurobiology has a focus on headache disorders and involves overall responsibility for research within Centre for Cluster Headache. This involves independent and leading responsibility for research projects focusing on headache disorders. You must be able to handle the techniques that the unit uses for studies and analyses of biological material and use and develop genetic, cell and molecular biological analysis techniques. You will conduct teaching in the field of neurobiology and supervision of students, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows within the unit.
You will be responsible for research into heredity and traits linked to cluster headache, which requires substantial knowledge on this type of question. The research questions include genetics, gender differences and treatment response as well as mechanisms at the basis of sleep and pain comorbidities. You will be responsible for managing a biobank.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for an employment as Professor with focus on research, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated excellent scientific skills and very good pedagogical skills. It is a requirement that you have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education, as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution.If you lack such education at the time of employment, you must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.
Assessment criteria
The Senior Lectureship has a focus on research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: scientific skills (3), pedagogical skills (2), and leadership and collaboration skills (2).

It is furthermore meritorious that you have demonstrated
- Experience and good knowledge in basic research on headache diseases.
- Experience in establishing and administering a research network in the field of headache diseases
- Holding a Ph.D. in the field of neurobiology.
- Experience with biobank management.
- Good pedagogical experience from various forms of teaching at the undergraduate, advanced and postgraduate levels as well as experience of individual supervision of degree theses, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows.
