Professor in Public Policies on Labour and Employment

Vibrant, multidisciplinary and innovative, the Faculty of Arts and Science is one of Université de Montréal’s largest faculties. The School of Industrial Relations is one of the largest institutions for the study of work and employment in North America. One of the distinguishing features of the faculty is to rely on a pluridisciplinary and integrated approach to industrial relations. The hiring of a new professor will bring valuable expertise in the analysis of public policies on labour and employment.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will:

  • Develop an independent research program concerning public policies on labour and employment;
  • Participate in large-scale research projects, get actively involved in research centers or groups, and pursue publication activities;
  • Actively participate in teaching in French at all three cycles and participate in supervising graduate students;
  • Get involved in the life of the School as well as in the functioning of the Faculty within committees and special projects;
  • Participate in the promotion of the discipline on the national and international levels through publications, conferences, and scientific activities and get involved in community service projects.

Qualifications

  • PhD. (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to public policies on labour and employment or in industrial relations. Applications from individuals who are completing their doctoral dissertation will also be considered.
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research in the field of public policies on labour and employment.
  • A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality university teaching in the field of public policies on labour and employment.
  • Have adequate proficiency of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired, through the Université de Montréal’s French language support program, in accordance with the Université de Montréal language policy.
