They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regard to environmental and social issues.

Context and educational objectives:

Educational expectations

The School of Arts and Humanities – UFR ARSH – includes five Departments of History, Art History and Archaeology, Musicology and Philosophy, Social Geography and an English Office, which offer five bachelor’s degrees (in History, Art History and Archaeology, Musicology, Philosophy and Applied Humanities) and three master's degrees (in History, Art History and Archaeology, and Philosophy). UFR ARSH is part of the Faculty of Humanities, Health, Sport and Societies, which comprises eight departments with which it maintains educational links and develops joint projects.

The successful candidate will teach in the History Department at all undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as on secondary school teacher training courses (preparation for the CAPES and Agrégation competitive examinations, Master’s in Teaching, Education and Training [master MEEF/EE : enseignement et education]). The successful candidate may also teach on the Bachelor’s in Applied Human Sciences (Licence Sciences humaines appliquées) course. The bachelor’s and master's degrees in history offered by UFR ARSH involve double degrees (double Bachelor’s degree in History-Classical Literature, Franco-Italian international master's degree, double degree in partnership with Grenoble Ecole de Management), in which the successful candidate will be required to participate. A particular focus is expected on supervising bachelor's and master's degree work, master's seminars and doctoral training.

In line with Grenoble's specific characteristics, the successful candidate must be able to teach courses on Italy, Europe and the Mediterranean world throughout the modern period.

They will be involved in the international exchanges that UFR ARSH wishes to develop and will actively participate in educational projects which will be initiated, possibly across UFR ARSH or the H3S faculty.

Research project and scientific impact:

Scientific profile

The successful candidate will conduct research on Italy and the Mediterranean world, focusing on their cultural contacts and interactions and, more broadly, on the movement of people and ideas. From a connected history perspective, their research should mainly relate to the laboratory's first area of focus, ‘Circulation, transfers, borders’. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will be expected to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations within the laboratory and UGA. They will contribute to the international reputation of LUHCIE and lead national and international projects capable of attracting doctoral and post-doctoral students. Experience in setting up international projects is required.
