Professor of Infectious Diseases in Primary Care
Job Summary: As a Professor of Infectious Diseases in Primary Care, you will connect science and practice by strengthening research and education at UMC Utrecht. You will combine scientific vision with practical experience as a general practitioner, contributing to better care for patients with infections and advancing the academic field.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead an innovative research line focused on infectious diseases in primary care.
- Play a central role in the Strategic Research Program on Infection and Immunity, collaborating with general practitioners, medical specialists, data scientists, methodologists, and epidemiologists within and outside UMC Utrecht.
- Participate in national and international networks for research on infectious diseases in primary care and secure funding for related projects.
- Contribute to education on infectious diseases in primary care for bachelor and master students in (bio)medical sciences, as well as provide post-academic training for general practitioners and trainees.
- Strengthen regional and transmural initiatives to improve research infrastructure, and develop and evaluate home monitoring and treatment for patients with serious infections.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- You are a dedicated clinician-scientist who combines clinical roles with academic research.
- You hold a PhD in Infectious Diseases in Primary Care.
- You have experience as an associate professor or equivalent in the field.
- Your leadership style involves giving and receiving feedback, with a development-oriented and results-oriented approach that encourages collaboration.
- You are experienced in setting up and conducting scientific research, leading research groups, and obtaining research funding.
- You have achieved a Basic Qualification in Education (BKO) and have extensive experience teaching bachelor, master, PhD, and postdoctoral students.
- You are motivated to invest in the development of colleagues and all educational activities of the department.
What the Employer Offers:
- A salary of up to €545 gross per month based on a full-time employment for a 22-29 hour per week position.
- Employment conditions according to the Collective Labor Agreement for University Medical Centers (UMC), including an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expense reimbursement, and various training opportunities.
