The Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business is pleased to announce an opening at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Candidates at the associate or full professor rank may be considered for the endowed Baker Professor of Sales. The ideal candidate will oversee The Citadel Sales Program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a specialty in sales classes, using traditional and online delivery methods, and publish research in appropriate venues.
There is tremendous excitement about professional selling in the student body. The Marketing & Business Development major was launched in 2020 and has quickly become the largest major in the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.
The ideal candidate will contribute to course offerings in marketing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The School is AACSB-accredited and offers a traditional residential undergraduate program to South Carolina Corps of Cadets members in a military college setting. In addition, we offer two non-residential programs for other students: an evening/online undergraduate degree completion program and an online MBA program.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must have earned a doctorate, or for the assistant level be ABD, from an AACSB-accredited or equivalent university with the preparation to teach courses in the discipline as well as to develop new classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ability to use or the motivation to learn technologies relevant to online teaching is required. All candidates should also be able to show effective past teaching experience, demonstrate research potential, and engage in appropriate service activities. Candidates applying at the Associate or Full Professor level should have a record of achievement to warrant an appointment at that level. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Online teaching experience is preferred but not required. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in the following areas: Professional Selling, Advanced Sales, and/or Negotiation. In addition, experience in coaching sales (student or executive level) and/or training on Salesforce is preferred. Relevant professional selling experience in industry or other organizational contexts is preferred.
Additional Comments:
The initial screening of applicants will begin immediately, and continue until the position is filled, with an initial screening deadline of September 15th, 2025. Motivated candidates should email the search chair if they cannot meet the initial screening deadline (Kirsten Passyn: kpassyn@citadel.edu). The position is expected to begin in August of 2026.
